George Chamberlain

Dr. George Chamberlain started his aquaculture career in 1975 as a researcher, instructor, and Extension Aquaculture Specialist at Texas A&M University. For the next ten years, he directed the aquaculture programs at Ralston Purina International and Monsanto. From 1999 to 2020, he founded and managed several shrimp breeding, nutrition, and farming companies ultimately known as Kona Bay with operations in Malaysia, Brunei, and Hawaii. Concurrent with his commercial activities, Chamberlain served as a Board member and President of the World Aquaculture Society and later helped found both the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GSA) and The Center for Responsible Seafood (TCRS). He continues to serve as board member of GSA and President of TCRS.

David Little
Chair of ARD and Deputy Head, Inst. of Aquaculture, Univ. of Stirling

Professor of Aquatic Resources and Development, Environment Research Group. Specialist in aquatic resource development and capacity building. Record of accomplishment in research and outreach with commercial and development partners in aquatic food security focus. Over thirty-five years of experience in interdisciplinary research and education, sizeable proportion based in the region generating around £10 million income. Published over 150 academic papers and reviews; (h index 48; ~8000 citations). Supervised over 100 postgraduate student research projects, of which more than 20 have been PhD. Key role as coordinator and partner of interdisciplinary and intercultural research for development. Active EU project coordinator of research and support actions.

Birgitte Krogh-Poulsen
Senior Fellow, Human Rights and Social Equity, Monterey Bay Aq.

Birgitte Krogh-Poulsen is an internationally recognized expert in human rights and social development with more than 25 years of experience working across Europe, Africa, and Asia. Her career has spanned grassroots advocacy, multilateral policy work, and strategic consulting with a focus on advancing social equity, labor rights, and sustainable development. As a Senior Fellow at Monterey Bay Aquarium, Birgitte champions human rights and social equity in the global seafood industry. She leads work at the intersection of environmental, economic, and social sustainability—driving systemic change to improve livelihoods, promote fair labor practices, and protect vulnerable communities. Her expertise lies in addressing the root causes of child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking, with related work in safe migration, education, gender equality, and child protection. Birgitte has collaborated with governments, industry actors, trade unions, community groups, and NGOs to lead policy development, conduct risk assessments, and design and implement practical, rights-based interventions.

Dr. Sarah Crane
Physician, Convenient MD Primary Care

Dr. Sarah Crane attended medical school at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has been practicing full spectrum family medicine for 11 years and is now an attending physician at Convenient MD Primary Care in Bangor, Maine, USA. She has a special interest in the role of nutrition in health. In this age of obesity and chronic health diseases in the global north, she recognizes the unique benefits of seafood for the overall population, for pregnant women, children, and aging adults, and especially for those suffering from hypertension, heart disease, and type-2 diabetes. Public health messaging can be a platform for counseling patients and consumers about the many positives of eating seafood.

Dr. Tornanda Syaifullah
DG of Product Competitiveness, Indonesian Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries
